Warranty claim without a receipt

Which brands don't need one, and how to prove purchase when you've lost yours.

Checked October 18, 2026. Warranty terms change, so confirm on the brand's page before relying on them.

Lost the receipt? Some brands don't need it at all, and for the rest you can often prove purchase another way.

How to prove purchase without a receipt

  1. Search your emailLook for the order confirmation or shipping notice. Search the brand name and words like "order" or "receipt".
  2. Check your online accountsAmazon, Home Depot, Lowe's and most big retailers keep order history in your account.
  3. Pull a bank or card statementA statement line showing the store, date and amount can work as proof for some brands. Ask before you send it, and cover unrelated transactions.
  4. Ask the storeMany retailers can look up a purchase by the card you paid with, or by a loyalty or rewards account.
  5. Look for a registrationIf you registered the product, the brand may already have your purchase date on file.
  6. Use the date codeSome brands use the manufacturing date on the product when there's no receipt.

From now on

Snap a photo of the receipt the day you buy anything with a warranty, and register the product. It takes a minute and it's the single best thing you can do.
