How to File a Milwaukee Tool Warranty Claim

Milwaukee doesn't require registration, and you can claim without a receipt: the tool's manufacturing date code sets the warranty period instead. The catch is that the date code usually starts your clock earlier than your purchase date.

Terms checked October 18, 2026. Warranty terms change, so confirm on the brand's page before shipping anything.

Step-by-step: how to file

  1. Find the catalog number and date codeBoth are on the tool's nameplate. You'll need them to check the warranty period and file the claim.
  2. Check your exact coverageMilwaukee lists terms by product. Most power tools are 5 years, but radios and some jobsite gear are 1 year, and batteries run 1–3 years depending on the pack.
  3. Find a service centerUse Milwaukee's eService, the Service Center locator, or call 1-800-SAWDUST (1-800-729-3878).
  4. Hand tool? Use the Lifetime Guarantee formHand tools covered by the Lifetime Guarantee are replaced, not repaired, through an online form that asks for photos and part numbers.
  5. Ship it prepaid and insuredMilwaukee requires the tool to arrive freight prepaid and insured. Include your invoice if you have one; it can extend your coverage past the date code.
  6. Know the out-of-warranty priceIf the tool is outside its period, Milwaukee repairs it at its Lightning Max Repair (LMR) pricing instead of free.

Good to know

  • Keep your receipt anyway. A product built a year before you bought it loses that year on the date-code clock.
  • Coverage applies only to products sold in the US and Canada.

What voids the claim

  • Misuse, alterations, abuse, lack of maintenance or accidents
  • Normal wear and tear, including wear parts like brushes, cords and blades
  • Repairs by anyone other than authorized personnel
  • Products sold outside the US and Canada
