How to Use Patagonia's Ironclad Guarantee
Patagonia's Ironclad Guarantee is simple: if a product doesn't perform to your satisfaction, Patagonia will repair, replace or refund it. The fine print that matters: damage from wear and tear is repaired "at a reasonable charge", not free.
Terms checked October 18, 2026. Warranty terms change, so confirm on the brand's page before shipping anything.
Step-by-step: how to file
- Decide: repair or return?A broken zipper or torn seam on something you love is a repair. A product that failed early or never worked right is a return for replacement or refund.
- Start a repair onlineUse Patagonia's Start a Repair page and describe the damage.
- Or bring it to a storeYou can return it to the store you bought it from, or to a Patagonia-owned store.
- Wash it firstA clean garment is easier to assess and repair.
- Ask about the costIf the damage is from wear and tear, ask what the repair will cost before you agree.
- Questions? CallPatagonia customer service: 1-800-638-6464, weekdays 6 AM–6 PM PT and weekends 7 AM–3 PM PT.
Good to know
- Patagonia's guarantee wording doesn't promise a free swap for old, worn gear. Expect a paid repair for normal wear.
- Returns can be started through Patagonia's online returns portal.
What voids the claim
- Wear and tear isn't free: it's repaired at a reasonable charge
- The guarantee doesn't list other exclusions; ask Patagonia about yours
